Cameron finally speaks some truth

Mike Cameron’s comments in the paper about the B-Sens this season have become a joke so it was nice that, for a change, he actually spoke some truth in an article about B-Sens enforcer Mike Sgroi.

“I think the best way to sum up what Mike Sgoi’s brought to this hockey club is that when he’s not in the lineup, we get intimidated and beat up,” B-Sens coach Dave Cameron said. “And when he’s in the lineup, we don’t.”

It’s nice to know that after 70 games Cameron finally realized what B-Sens fans were complaining about before the puck dropped in October. This team lacks size and team toughness and without a legitimate enforcer we became a laughing stock that got pushed around and run over in our own building. Sgroi helped curb this somewhat, but even he is not a legit AHL enforcer. The reason he went apeshit in the game vs Norfolk was because their bench was giving us all the respect we deserved…zero:

“They’re in first place overall and it’s like they’re kicking us. We’re in last place and you can’t skate by their bench without them saying something about it or whatever. And you know what? I’m just getting sick and tired of it.”

What I love about Sgroi is that he is one of the few players in Binghamton this year who has the self respect to do something about. Most of the other guys skate back to the bench with their heads down and tails between their legs. Kudos to Sgroi for putting his foot down and his fists up. Only other guy to regularly stand up for this team has been Komodoski, but he has been repeatedly benched after such incidents. Hopefully now that Cameron has admitted what a whipped team we are he will let guys run free to stand up for themselves. Lord knows we need something to cheer about in April.
