Proof for Visors
December 13, 2006
Stumbled across a good article documenting the reduction of injuries now that visors are mandated in the UHL. I expect we’ll see similar numbers next year from the AHL. The article also mentions two Binghamton alumni, Alex Andreyev and Daniel Goneau.
According to UHL commissioner Richard Brosal, there were 37 facial injuries reported in 2004-05. That number dropped to 16 last season, the first with visors, and through the first six weeks of this season, there was only one – the fractured cheekbone of Komets left wing Daniel Goneau, suffered after an opposing player took a slap shot.
The second portion details the suspension handed out by the UHL for a brawl during a Jackals - Komets game. Among the suspended players is former B-Sens Chance Fitzpatrick who was loaned to Elmira after we signed Mike Sgroi to a PTO.
