Billy Thompson signs with Islanders
July 27, 2006
After a dismall 2005/06 season, the Senators let Thompson walk and he signed a one year contract with the NY Islanders. B-Sens fans were looking forward to Thompson taking over the starting duties after he played great as Ray Emery’s backup the previous two years. Unfortunately, Thompson never settled in and struggled all season posting a 9-18-3 record with a 4.14 GAA. The Senators had problems with defense, but Thompson blew his fair share of winnable games and was the biggest reason for Binghamton’s failure to reach the playoffs. Thompson will most likely be playing in Bridgeport and we will see him several times next year.
