Senators Add Jamie Allison, Bingo Roster Almost Complete
July 26, 2006
The Senators signed veteran defenseman Jamie Allison today and given that Ottawa’s blueline is already full it seems like that Allison will be playing in Bingo and acting as a backup incase of injury. This is a fantastic move. The B-Sens defense was horrible this year and they have been lacking a veteran presence in the players they have signed to date. Allison will provide that along with some grit. I’ve never seen him play, but I can say with confidence that he’s not as bad as Ward…hell, I don’t think its possible that anyone can be as bad as Ward
Allison, 31, joins the Senators for his 13th pro hockey season. In 2005-06, he suited up with his fourth and fifth NHL teams starting the season with the Nashville Predators and then claimed off waivers by the Florida Panthers to end the schedule. He had one assist and 45 penalty minutes in 20 games with the Predators and 11 penalty minutes in seven games with the Panthers.
Since his first NHL game during the 1994-95 season with the Calgary Flames, Allison has registered seven goals, 23 penalty minutes and 639 penalty minutes over 372 games with the Flames, Chicago Blackhawks, Columbus Blue Jackets and Nashville Predators.
