Chara vs Lecavalier

I may have been slacking off on the blog, but I’m still watching hockey.  Last nights Senators game vs the Lightning was awesome.  Here’s my highlight from the game:

Chara vs Lacavalier

Back to the Wall

The B-Sens have been playing some of their best hockey of season while their team has been without some of their top players.  We noticed this same phenomenon back in December when Ottawa was also shorthanded and had called up a couple of the B-Sens top forwards.  This time it’s the defensemen.  The only explanation is that playing shorthanded forces this team to play with increased focus and stick to a game plan.

Unfortunately, time may be running.  There is only one team the B-Sens can try to catch for the last playoff spot and that is Bridgeport who sits 9 points ahead with 5 games left.  Binghamton has 6 games left, but the Sound Tigers have their magic number down to 4.  That means a loss tonight will be the final straw to end Binghamton’s hope for reaching the post season.

The good news is that this team’s fate is largely in their own hands.  Two of Bridgeports last 5 games are against Binghamton.  If Binghamton can sweep those along with their other 4 remaining games, they will end with 86 points and 39 wins.  If Bridgeport get 3 points in those other 3 games, Binghamton wins the tie breaker.  A long shot for sure, but one worth fighting for.
